Safe Rooms (Above-Ground Shelters)

A safe room is a reinforced structure designed to provide protection in the event of a disaster or an emergency situation. It is usually used as a shelter from natural disasters, such as tornadoes, or from man-made threats, such as home invasions. Safe rooms are typically constructed using materials that provide a high level of resistance to impact, fire, and penetration, and are often equipped with communication and life-support systems to ensure the safety of the occupants. Our concrete safe rooms are F-5 FEMA approved with 6 inch thick rebar enforced walls, and 3 anchors on two sides.

Location: Choose a location in your home that is easily accessible and has solid walls, such as a basement or a closet.

Size: Make sure the safe room is big enough to accommodate everyone in your household and has enough room for essential supplies.

Accessibility: Ensure that the door to the safe room is easily accessible and can be locked securely from the inside.

Ventilation: Make sure the safe room is properly ventilated to prevent air pollution in case of an emergency.

Reinforcement: Consider reinforcing the walls, ceiling, and door of the safe room to provide maximum protection against potential hazards.

Supplies: Stock the safe room with emergency supplies, such as food, water, first aid kit, flashlight, and a communication device.

Budget: Consider the cost of materials and labor for installing the safe room and ensure it is within your budget.
